CHINA The legal profession in China consists of three major areas: state-run, cooperative and partnerships. Single practitioners are permitted. The requirements for admission to practice include qualification as a lawyer and a practice certificate. The All China Lawyers Association is the national bar association. Chinese citizens may represent themselves in courts of law or ask a lawyer to represent them. Foreign law firms are permitted to open representative offices in China only by obtaining the permission of the Ministry of Justice and shall not violate the Interim Regulations of the Ministry of Justice and the State Industry and Commercial Bureau for Representative Offices of Foreign Law Firms.

The Notary Public in China translates and authenticates documents. The official languages of the courts are the Han language or the minority languages in the autonomous regions.
